Comenius Trip to Czech Republic

Commenius Trip:Visit to Czech Republic

Three students from Ballinode Community College accompanied by two teachers, Ms Burke and Ms Devaney, travelled to the Czech Republic as  part of an on-going Comenius project. The purpose of the project is to get students to immerse themselves in different cultures, expanding their knowledge of language and giving them greater understanding of cultural differences. This project is a link between five countries, Poland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Spain and Ireland.

The next event will take place in Poland in late May and will give another group of very lucky students the chance to travel and make new friends from other cultures.

Comenius Trip

Students from Ballinode Community College travelled to the town of Česká Lípa in the Czech Republic accompanied by two teachers; Ms. Devaney and Ms. Burke.  This trip was part of the on-going Comenius project called ‘Angry Garbage’. The purpose of this project is to primarily improve  the recycling and waste disposal in the school and in the process immerse the students in different cultures, expanding their knowledge of language and giving them greater understanding of cultural differences and conflict resolution.

While on the tour, students had the opportunity to meet the mayor for an official welcome to the town, took part in a cooking competition where students from each country made pancakes in their country’s traditional method, visit the city of Liberec, tour the castle and French gardens in Zakupy and also visited the company MEGA which is linked to environment. The trip really was a brilliant experience and created unforgettable memories.
